Collection Management
Caring for our collections is integral to the work of the NRM. We make every effort to ensure that our collections are preserved for future generations to learn from and enjoy.
Collection management means:
- Making sure that everyone can easily access items in our collections and learn about their history
- Ensuring that items on display, in storage and in transit are protected from damage
- Monitoring environmental conditions of display and store areas
- Managing pests that can cause damage to collection items
- Having collection disaster recovery plans in place
Loans
The National Railway Museum is able to loan collection items to other cultural heritage organisations provided that certain display or storage conditions are adhered to. If you wish to borrow an item from the NRM, or would like more information, please contact the Curator and Business Manager. The NRM does not generally accept items on inward loan
