BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May, 10am to 4:30pm.

Join us for our History Festival event, Behind Closed Doors!

The POWER of railways!

Come along and enjoy a rare opportunity to inspect and be shown many places and exhibits that are not normally open to public visitors.

Each venue/area will be attended by an NRM volunteer to provide guidance and answer your questions.

These specially opened places include:

  • 1940s style driver's cabin of steam locomotive 523
  • 1980s era suburban railcar Jumbo 2000 series
  • 1950s era Wegmann lounge carriage from the Trans-Australian Express
  • 1920s era join stock VR/SAR carriage from the Overland
  • 1900s era sleeping carriage Baroota from the Broken Hill Express
  • Woodville railway station signal cabin - relocated and open to inspect

Our fantastic train driver's cab simulator can be enjoyed too!

In addition, catering will be available with Rotary West Lakes in our 1930s Cafeteria carriage, and Prospect Scouts will be running a BBQ.

Our favourite little blue steam engine BUB will be running train trips all day, both days, and those trips are included in the admission fee!

Adult - $20

Concession - $12
